Orthopaedic - Kilcreene Regional Orthopaedic Hospital
University Hospital Waterford
What do you like about your job?
I enjoy the hands-on nature of my work as an Orthopedic SHO, particularly the opportunity to make a tangible difference in patients’ lives by restoring their mobility and improving their quality of life. I also appreciate the collaborative aspect of the role, working alongside a dedicated multidisciplinary team, which provides constant learning and growth.
What does a typical day look like for you while working?
A typical day as an Orthopaedic SHO starts with a morning handover, followed by ward rounds where I review patient’s progress and update management plans if needed. I also spend time coordinating care with the multidisciplinary team, including physiotherapists and nurses, to ensure comprehensive patient management. When in theater it is mostly spent in assisting in surgeries.
Have you attended a CPD Support Scheme course yet (2024-25 cycle)?
No, but I'm trying to get myself booked for the course that will meet my requirements as Orthopaedic SHO and also will help in securing CST in near future.
How was your experience on the course?
I haven’t had the opportunity yet to get a course that meets my requirements.
What other interests/hobbies do you have?
I like Jazz music, Snooker is my favourite sport and football is my second favourite.
What do you hope to achieve in your career?
I aspire to reach the pinnacle of my career in orthopaedics, becoming a highly skilled consultant with expertise in my chosen subspecialty.
If you were to recommend a book, what would it be and why?
I haven’t read any books lately,
