This internationally recognised AHLS course teaches comprehensive knowledge for the medical management of patients exposed to hazardous materials. This course will take place in Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda.
This course builds on the knowledge and skills introduced during the emergency toxicology course. It is recommended that course candidates strongly consider completing this basic course before enrolling in the more advanced AHLS course.
Learning outcomes
To develop and practise a systematic approach to hazardous materials exposure.
To review and establish common poisoning toxidromes and management algorithms.
To understand ammonia toxicity and management.
To know toxic asphyxiants and their denomination.
To be able to manage corrosive, fluoride and insecticide exposure.
To describe and recognise the effects of chemical, biological and radiation poisoning
