Register today - annual Irish Surgical Training Group Careers Day & Aspiring Surgeons' Research Symposium 

 

The annual Irish Surgical Training Group Careers Day & Aspiring Surgeons' Research Symposium is happening tomorrow, Saturday, 9  November in College Hall, RCSI. All NCHDs and medical students interested in pursuing a career in surgery are welcome to attend this free, informative and engaging event. 

 

The event will feature short talks from the surgical consultants leading the Core Surgical Training Programme for each of the surgical specialities followed by informal networking with consultants and our ISTG speciality reps. These are designed to give prospective surgeons an idea of daily life in each specialty, with plenty of opportunities to ask questions and make connections. 

 

This is followed by the Aspiring Surgeons Research Symposium, a great opportunity for medical students, interns and SHOs to present their research in a supportive environment. Abstract submission is now closed for oral and poster presentations. The best in each category on the day will receive a prize. 

 

This year, the ISTG are partnering with RCSI to create a Simulation Station where attendees can test their hand and compete against their colleagues at laparoscopic surgery on a simulator.
