Online course – Medical Emergencies

This is on-line modular course has adapted from our previous CPDSS Medical Emergencies Day. The course is presented as a series of recorded one-hour modules, with access released on a rolling monthly basis.


This is on-line modular course has adapted from our previous CPDSS Medical Emergencies Day. The course is presented as a series of recorded one-hour modules, with access released on a rolling monthly basis. Each module, involving a separate specialty theme, will involve case-based discussions with a variety of guest speakers. Slides covering the content are provided, and a short series of MCQs based on the content covered are completed in order to complete the module. The themes covered within each module will be changed on an annual basis.

The course is now complete and will be available to book until 17 June 2022 using the 2021-2022 CPD_SS allowance. After this date the course will no longer be open for new applicants.

The Institute of Leadership (IOL) are running a series of webinars in collaboration with The National Clinical Leadership Centre for Nursing and Midwifery (NCLC) and Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD).  

The series will consist of nine pre-recorded webinars that commenced in September 2020 and will continue until February 2021.  The aim of the series is to provide an opportunity for representatives from all nursing disciplines and midwifery services to present and share their clinical leadership experiences, during the pandemic.

I am pleased to confirm that the second Annual University Hospital Waterford Video Surgery Webinar will take place on Thursday 9th June 2022 @ 6.30pm in the HSE/RCSI Education Building on the University Hospital Waterford Campus. Participants will be able to link in virtually for their presentations. This forum is open to all proceduralists working in the healthcare setting. There will be plenary oral and non-plenary oral presentations, with prizes awarded for the best presentation in each category. The deadline for abstract submission is Wednesday 11th of May 2022. Attached, a copy of the abstract guidelines.  Please submit abstracts to jennie.oleary@hse.ie.

The MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is open to all non-consultant health doctors in Ireland within non-surgical specialities. Applications for August 2022 intake is now open.


The MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is open to all non-consultant health doctors in Ireland within non-surgical specialities such as Radiology, anaesthesiology, general practice, emergency medicine, pathology, public health, occupational health, and all general medical specialities.

The programme has been developed to supplement the clinical experience with structured clinical teaching and training.Programme modules are designed to equip you with a versatile skill set that will help to better meet the demands which are an essential part of the professional life of the modern practicing clinician.

MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice – Course Overview

 

The class comprises people from different clinical backgrounds and experience which allows a rich mix of expertise thus providing for healthy discussions and case studies. Modules include:

To be considered eligible for the programme, you must:

  • Hold the degree of MB/BAO/BCh) or equivalent
  • Be registered and in good standing with your professional registration body
  • Resident in Ireland and working in the Irish Health service at time of application
  • Possess good undergraduate and postgraduate records and references
  • Ideally candidates should have some practical experience and knowledge of clinical research as there is a strong research component within the programme

We would like to introduce ourselves as the new National Surgical Research Support Centre (NSRSC) which aims to support and promote surgical trial activity in Ireland.


We would like to introduce ourselves as the new National Surgical Research Support Centre (NSRSC) which aims to support and promote surgical trial activity in Ireland. We have partnered with the HRB-Trials Methodology Research Network (HRB-TMRN) to offer a free online seminar: Introduction to surgical randomised controlled trials on the 11th May, 2022.

 

Speakers include world-leading experts in surgical trials methodology and local early career surgical-trialists. The NSRSC will also outline the supports it provides to conduct surgical trials in Ireland. This event will benefit anyone interested in the planning, design, conduct and reporting of surgical trials.

Feasibility Trial Scheme

The National Surgical Research Support Centre (NSRSC) is pleased to announce that we are launching a call to support surgeons undertaking feasibility trials with the potential to progress to evaluation through a definitive trial.


The National Surgical Research Support Centre (NSRSC) has been established to support surgical trial activity in Ireland. The Centre aims to develop a portfolio of multicentre surgical trials in Ireland  and establish an Irish surgical trial network.

To that end we are launching a call to support surgeons undertaking feasibility trials with the potential to progress to evaluation through a definitive trial. Applications are encouraged from all surgical disciplines. For more details about the call please see the NSRSC Feasibility Trial Scheme Call document and Application form at the links below. We encourage potential applicants to contact the NSRSC in the first instance to discuss your proposal.
