Hip Fracture Focus Group Study Invite and Systematic Review Collaboration October 2021
Dear Colleagues,
The Irish Hip Fracture Database (IHFD) will soon allow for the recording of long-term outcomes including mortality and function at 30 days, 120 days and 1 year. We are currently conducting a qualitative study with different health professionals (approximately 30 participants in total) to find out the challenges and strategies for following up patients with hip fracture. Through your clinical role you will likely have followed up patients at the 6 week clinic. You may also have been involved in audit or research collecting these outcomes after hip fracture. Your experiences and opinions are very important to the development of this initiative and the future of the IHFD. I am conducting focus groups and interviews on Zoom during the week of 1st November. It would involve a once-off hour long involvement from you online and neither you nor your hospital will be identified in results. If you would be happy to take part in this anonymous study please contact me on m.walsh@ucd.ie for more information and we can schedule a time that works for you.
I will also be conducting a systematic literature review examining prognostic models after hip fracture beginning around April 2022. I will be looking for assistance and co-authorship with this. It would involve screening 1000-3000 Titles/ Abstract and assisting with detailed critical appraisal of approximately 30 papers. We hope it will result in a good publication. If you are interested in this, you can contact me for more information. Please include some background on your experience with research methods, systematic reviews and/ or statistical modelling.
Kind regards,
Mary
