The training session aims to introduce participants to the concepts of positive emotions, optimism, meaning and purpose and growth mind-set in a professional and personal environment. It will introduce the concept of burnout in the medical profession and mechanisms to avoid burnout. The course will also address using a strengths-based approach to workplace flourishing.
Social media presents great opportunities for doctors to engage with the public and share their knowledge and insights. It brings some responsibilities and risks too. This short course will provide an overview of how to get the best out of social media, sharing recommendations in the context of Irish Medical Council guidelines.
The Fundamentals of Primary Total Hip Arthroplasty

The course will provide registrars working in trauma and orthopaedic surgery the opportunity to improve their understanding of primary hip arthroplasty.The indications, challenges, techniques and potential complications of total hip arthroplasty will be explored.
This course is perfect for doctors starting their training in laparoscopic surgery. This is a hands-on course in which you receive expert formative feedback while practicing your skills on bespoke low- and high-fidelity models. Expert laparoscopic consultants will also guide you through performing a laparoscopic cholecystectomy on an animal liver-gallbladder model.
This intensive one-day course on managing obstetrical emergencies is designed for healthcare professionals seeking to enhance their knowledge and hands-on skills in high-risk obstetric situations.
If a course is FULL – it is recommended to apply for the waiting list. Often doctors withdraw from courses closer to the date.
If you would like to book and attend more than your FREE 3 full-day courses allowance, you will be required to pay an enrolment fee for the additional courses. However, this fee can be reimbursed via HSE’s Training Support Scheme. Further details can be found here.
