The day will focus on feedback skills to improve your teaching and training in the clinical and simulation environments. A combination of theory, interactive exercises and high-fidelity simulation will be used to demonstrate the skills of giving effective feedback to learners.
This online comprehensive prep features a single full mock exam paper for two hours, designed to simulate actual exam conditions, followed by a detailed feedback session led by experienced emergency medicine consultants.
Information session on Applying for Specialist Registration

This information session is designed to provide guidance on applying for entry to the Irish Medical Council Specialist Division of the Register (SDR). This is a blended learning educational session for any doctors involved in providing procedural sedation. A 3-hour pre-course online module prior to attending the course. The course will provide participants with the ability to provide safe and effective sedation to patients in the ED.
This interactive workshop will discuss the management of the unstable patient for both variceal and non-variceal bleeds. The course will concentrate on the management of a bleeding and perforated duodenal ulcer with both open and laparoscopic approaches.
This training session aims to empower the RCSI community to challenge poor behaviors which have become normalised and bring change through the reinforcement of messages defining the boundaries of unacceptable behavior.
This endoscopy workshop will introduce endoscopic techniques, sedation, bowel preparation and diagnostic recognition of pathology. The practical session will use both virtual reality endoscopic simulators and bench task trainers to practice doing gastroscopy and colonoscopy, on modules with different pathologies.
This online two-day course is designed for healthcare professionals in the ED, providing comprehensive training in radiological interpretation for daily ED operations. The course covers a wide range of topics, from common musculoskeletal (MSK) injuries to paediatric-specific radiology, chest and abdominal films, facial injuries, and more.
RCSI Emergency Point of Care Ultrasound (POCUS) Certificate

This three-dayprogramme is a collaboration between the RCSI CPD support scheme and the Mater Hospital’s POCUS training group at the Pillar Centre and provides a practical hands-on overview of the skills required for the application of ultrasound in the acute setting.
This is a hands-on course where you will get expert formative feedback while practicing laparoscope handling, object positioning and tissue manipulation. You will then progress to performing a cholecystectomy on a simulated animal model.
The Masterclass in Stone Disease will present the latest in the field of surgical and medical treatment of renal stone disease. Participants will observe semi-live surgeries by expert national and international surgeons.
Financial Wellness: Financial Wellbeing, Spending, Borrowing and Your Credit Profile
Classroom
This session introduces financial wellbeing & why it is so important. It will also go through how to create a spending plan using the 50/30/20 budgeting rule, how to save successfully and borrow using the right resources. Also discussed will be the various types of credit and your credit profile.
This course will help you master your knot-tying and suturing skills from first principles. Experienced consultant surgeons will give you formative feedback on your instrument handling, tissue manipulation, and wound closure.
Accredited Certificate in Simulation-based Training in Human Factors in Patient Safety
Classroom
This three-day certificate introduces human factors in healthcare. Each day has a separate overall theme, and begins with an overall introductory lecture, followed by a series of practical and interactive workshops developing on the key theme.
If a course is FULL – it is recommended to apply for the waiting list. Often doctors withdraw from courses closer to the date.
If you would like to book and attend more than your FREE 3 full-day courses allowance, you will be required to pay an enrolment fee for the additional courses. However, this fee can be reimbursed via HSE’s Training Support Scheme. Further details can be found here.
