As one of the four Surgical Royal Colleges, it has responsibility for training and professional development of surgeons in Ireland.

Charter Day is the Annual Commemoration of the granting of our Charter by King George III in 1784. The Charter event provides a unique opportunity for RCSI Fellows & Members along with their international colleagues to network and debate many aspects of the surgical profession.

Every year, RCSI celebrates a meeting to commemorate the Charter of 1784 and in doing so extends a warm welcome to Fellows, Members, Alumni, Faculty, Students, Staff and the broader healthcare community in Ireland and overseas.

This year, the Charter Meeting will take place, in-person, from Saturday, 28 January to Friday, 3 February 2023 in RCSI. The theme for the 2023 meeting is 'Shaping the Future'.
