Basic Life Support Provider Course

The BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider Course is for medical, para-medical and allied healthcare professionals. The skills taught include adult and paediatric CPR including two rescuer scenarios, use of bag valve mask and barrier devices, management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO), and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
This training session aims to empowers the RCSI community to challenge poor behaviours which have become normalised and bring change through the reinforcement of messages defining the boundaries of unacceptable behaviour.
Endourology - "Interactive Master class in Stone Disease”

The aim of this course is to present the latest in the field of surgical and medical treatment of Stone disease. Participants will observe live surgeries from expert national and international surgeons and have discussion on latest instruments, difficult cases/scenarios and tips & tricks for stone treatment in interactive sessions.
This course is designed to facilitate an introduction to MS Word, word processing and MS PowerPoint - using presentation software for complete beginners with no previous knowledge of the application required.

The course also explore the optimum ways you can win over the interview panel at that all-important interview. Part A concentrates on Curriculum Development, Part B concentrates on interview skills.

This highly interactive on–line course will provide you with the opportunity to develop your critical thinking, escalation and communication skills.
Coping with an adverse event or an error can be devastating for doctors. It is vital to use expert communication skills to inform the family and patient if relevant of exactly the details and to apologise. The doctor has been identified to be the 'Second Victim' as often considerable distress can be experienced and doctors require expert support from their team and from hospital management. This course will address the strain which doctors can feel when they are involved in an adverse event and will provide scenarios for skills rehearsal and discussion.
This programme covers instruction in technical skills using a combination of synthetic bench models, animal cadaver tissue and various technical simulators. Topics covered include: Stomas; ileostomy / colostomy, Bowel anastomosis – end-end; hand sewn / side – side; stapled, incisional and open inguinal hernia management.
If a course is FULL – it is recommended applying for the waiting list. Often doctors withdrawn from courses closer to the date.
If you would like to book and attend more than your FREE 3 full-day courses allowance, you will be required to pay an enrolment fee for the additional courses. However, this fee can be reimbursed via HSE’s Training Support Scheme. Further details can be found here.
