Head and neck cancer in the Covid-19 era

Classroom

This course will explore the presentation and management of cancers of the head and neck. Changes in operative methods in the Covid-19 era. This course will concentrate on the removal of tumours in the neck region and reconstruction of the defect by practicing on animal models in our wet lab facility.

If you would like to book more than your 3 allocated courses, you will be required to pay a fee for each additional course. This fee may be claimed back via the HSE’s Training Support Scheme. Details can be found here.

The RCSI is keen to assess the educational needs of Doctors working in the Irish Healthcare service, especially  those who are not currently part of a specialist training programme, so it can better understand your educational needs  and career aspirations.

Attached please find (a link to) a short (5 minute) survey. The results of which will be used to inform how the RCSI can best support its Doctors, enhance clinical skills, transfer knowledge, promote career development and professional needs.

This survey is anonymous and is not exclusive,  so please feel free to share it with any other doctors who are not currently on a training programme but would like to participate.

Virtual Emergency Abdominal Surgery Course
 

The inaugural virtual Emergency Abdominal Surgery Course will take place on Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd January.

 

The first EASC course was held in Letterkenny Donegal Ireland in May 2012 and has since expanded around the World and held in 12 countries.


The inaugural virtual Emergency Abdominal Surgery Course will take place on Thursday 21st & Friday 22nd January.

 

The first EASC course was held in Letterkenny Donegal Ireland in May 2012 and has since expanded around the World and held in 12 countries. This course builds on previous success and is further enhanced by a large international faculty who are at the coal face of Emergency General Surgery (EGS). Covid-19 has necessitated a change to a virtual platform.

 

EASC curriculum focuses on the acute abdomen, in a multidisciplinary shared learning approach. It brings a level of discussion you may not have heard before and enhance your ability as an on-call resident/consultant surgeon, or radiologist. EASC is about decision making and surgical techniques in patients with common surgical emergencies

The Institute of Leadership (IOL) are running a series of webinars incollaboration with The National Clinical Leadership Centre for Nursing and Midwifery (NCLC) and Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD).  

The series will consist of nine pre-recorded webinars that commenced in September 2020 and will continue until February 2021.  The aim of the series is to provide an opportunity for representatives from all nursing disciplines and midwifery services to present and share their clinical leadership experiences, during the pandemic.

The application of ISBAR3 is examined in a variety of clinical settings using video analysis of everyday handover situations.
