16^th February 2022 17^th February 2022	Emergency Abdominal Surgery Course	Interactive learning	EASC curriculum focuses on the acute abdomen, in a multidisciplinary shared learning approach. It will enhance your ability on-duty as a surgeon, gastroenterologist or radiologist; either as a trainee or a specialist. The course is endorsed by many societies and is regularly updated with the latest advances in emergency surgery care.	6	Register here
18^th February 2022	Procedural Sedation and Analgesia – CORK *2 places left	Classroom	This is a blended learning educational session for any doctors involved in providing procedural sedation. A 3 hour pre-course on line module prior to attending the course. The course will provide participants with the ability to provide safe and effective sedation to patients in the Emergency Department.	8	Register here
22 February 2022	Basic Life Support *4 places left	Classroom	The BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider Course is for medical, para-medical and allied healthcare professionals. The skills taught include adult and paediatric CPR including two rescuer scenarios, use of bag valve mask and barrier devices, management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO), and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).	4.5	Register here
3^rd March 2022	Active Bystander Intervention Training *2 places left	Interactive learning	This training session aims to empowers the RCSI community to challenge poor behaviours which have become normalised and bring change through the reinforcement of messages defining the boundaries of unacceptable behaviour.	1	Register here

22 March 2022	Intermediate Colorectal Surgery *6 places left	Classroom	This programme covers instruction in technical skills using a combination of synthetic bench models, animal cadaver tissue and various technical simulators. Topics covered include: Stomas; ileostomy / colostomy, Bowel anastomosis – end-end; hand sewn / side – side; stapled, incisional and open inguinal hernia management.	7.5	Register here
4^th April 2022	Communication with Patients and Colleagues to Promote Safety in Healthcare *5 places left	Classroom	This workshop supports participants to learn an develop communication skills to deal with challenging patient-clinician communication: responding to strong emotion, delivering bad news, disclosing errors and many other difficult clinical conversations.	6	Register here

New Online course – Medical Emergencies
February 2022

This is on-line modular course has adapted from our previous CPDSS Medical Emergencies Day. The course is presented as a series of recorded one-hour modules, with access released on a rolling monthly basis. Each module, involving a separate specialty theme, will involve case-based discussions with a variety of guest speakers. Slides covering the content are provided, and a short series of MCQs based on the content covered are completed in order to complete the module. The themes covered within each module will be changed on an annual basis.

Save the Date - Charter Day April 2022

The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, (RCSI) is among Ireland’s foremost health science institutions being one of its oldest Colleges (1784) and newest Universities (2019). As one of the four Surgical Royal Colleges, it has responsibility for training and professional development of surgeons in Ireland.

Charter Day is the Annual Commemoration of the granting of our Charter by King George III in 1784. The Charter event provides a unique opportunity for RCSI Fellows & Members along with their international colleagues to network and debate many aspects of the surgical profession.

Every year, RCSI celebrates a meeting to commemorate the Charter of 1784 and in doing so extends a warm welcome to Fellows, Members, Alumni, Faculty, Students, Staff and the broader healthcare community in Ireland and overseas.

The Charter Meeting will take place on Thursday 21 and Friday 22 April 2022. The meeting will consist of both hybrid and virtual sessions, subject to the public health guidelines in place at the time.

The Institute of Leadership (IOL) are running a series of webinars in collaboration with The National Clinical Leadership Centre for Nursing and Midwifery (NCLC) and Office of the Nursing and Midwifery Services Director (ONMSD).

The series will consist of nine pre-recorded webinars that commenced in September 2020 and will continue until February 2021. The aim of the series is to provide an opportunity for representatives from all nursing disciplines and midwifery services to present and share their clinical leadership experiences, during the pandemic.

The MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is open to all non-consultant health doctors in Ireland within non-surgical specialities such as Radiology, anaesthesiology, general practice, emergency medicine, pathology, public health, occupational health, and all general medical specialities.

The programme has been developed to supplement the clinical experience with structured clinical teaching and training.Programme modules are designed to equip you with a versatile skill set that will help to better meet the demands which are an essential part of the professional life of the modern practicing clinician.

Ideally candidates should have some practical experience and knowledge of clinical research as there is a strong research component within the programme
