This bone fracture fixation course concentrates on the management of fractures that need more than a cast for stability. The practical sessions will range from the application of simple screws and plates to the complex fixation of fractures using k-wires, tension band wiring, and intramedullary nailing.

Global surgery is an area of study, research, practice, and advocacy aimed at achieving health equity for all people worldwide who have a need for surgical care. Participants will analyse the global context in which surgery is currently practiced, including the challenges in providing adequate surgical healthcare in developing countries and the management of humanitarian crises.

This new course aims to concentrate on the management of perianal conditions such as pilonidal sinus, fistula-in-ano, perianal abscess, and hemorrhoids. Practice sessions will be enabled using animal bench models where you will practice procedures such as the application of a Seaton, abscess drainage, wide excision of a pilonidal sinus, and hemorrhoid banding.

Advanced Endoscopy/Laparoscopy: Upper GI Emergency Management

In this course, experts will focus on the management of a perforated duodenal ulcer with both open and laparoscopic approaches. Practical’s will include laparoscopic omental patch for perforated duodenal ulcer, an antrectomy and gastrojejunostomy. Hands-on practice will be aided by virtual reality simulators and animal bench models in a wet lab facility.

Clinical training programme for interested researchers The National Quality Assurance & Improvement System (NQAIS)

This training programme will enable participants to use the NQAIS Clinical system to extract data on each patient discharged from an acute hospital for the past five years.
