The BLS (Basic Life Support) Provider Course is for medical, para-medical, and allied healthcare professionals. The skills taught include adult and paediatric CPR including two-rescuer scenarios, use of bag valve mask and barrier devices, management of foreign body airway obstruction (FBAO), and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

RCSI Accredited Certificate in Simulation-based Training in Human Factors in Patient Safety
|
|
This three-day certificate introduces human factors in healthcare. Each day has a separate overall theme and begins with an overall introductory lecture, followed by a series of practical and interactive workshops developing on the key theme.

If a course is FULL – it is recommended applying for the waiting list. Often doctors withdrawn from courses closer to the date.
If you would like to book and attend more than your FREE 3 full-day courses allowance, you will be required to pay an enrolment fee for the additional courses. However, this fee can be reimbursed via HSE’s Training Support Scheme. Further details can be found here.

The purpose of this Certificate is to develop a structure for non-training scheme surgical doctors who wish to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge, while also supporting, Career Development and Professional needs.
The purpose of this Certificate is to develop a structure for non-training scheme surgical doctors who wish to enhance their clinical skills and knowledge, while also supporting, Career Development and Professional needs.
To improve patient care by ensuring that non training scheme doctors delivering surgical care in our hospitals can demonstrate that they have achieved an appropriate level of surgical skill and competency across the domains of practice in both technical and non-technical skills that this has been assessed, supported and validated by the RCSI in a structured format.
This certificate will focus on providing opportunities for doctors to advance their skills, both technical and non-technical, the aim of which is to improve motivation, clinical skills and ultimately enhance patient care. This one-year certificate is open to those working in Surgical posts in Ireland.
The educational content of this certificate is comprehensive and will be delivered by a blended approach with some elements online, and in person.

Abraham Verghese MD, FRCP(Edin), is trained in infectious diseases and pulmonary medicine and holds the Linda R. Meier and Joan F. Lane Provostial Professorship and is the Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine at Stanford University School of Medicine. In addition to patient care and teaching, he leads PRESENCE, a multidisciplinary center that studies the human experience of patients, physicians and caregivers. He is a ‘91 graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and his work has appeared in the New Yorker, Granta, the Atlantic, the New York Times and elsewhere; his first book, My Own Country, was made into a movie; his last novel, Cutting for Stone, spent 107 weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. His new novel, The Covenant of Water, appears in May 2023. He is an elected member of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies, as well as the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. In 2016 he was awarded the National Humanities Medal at the White House by President Obama.

RCSI and Operation Childlife have announced a new Fellowship aimed at supporting surgical trainees or medical professionals in gaining additional expertise by participating in international paediatric healthcare missions.
RCSI and Operation Childlife have announced a new Fellowship aimed at supporting surgical trainees or medical professionals in gaining additional expertise by participating in international paediatric healthcare missions.
Launching in 2023, the Operation Childlife Travel Fellowship will provide surgical trainees and medical professionals with important clinical experience within international regions while providing surgical and/or clinical healthcare to children in developing countries.
The successful surgical trainee/medical professional will join the Opens in new windowOperation Childlife healthcare team, led by Irish-based hospital consultants, doctors and nurses who plan and deliver two-week programmes of care, in Vietnam, Tanzania, Mongolia or Jordan. The successful candidate will receive up to €3,000 financial support towards travel and accommodation costs associated with the placement.
