The RCSI Intermediate Surgical Principles and Practice Certificate (ISPP) is your surgical pathway to transitioning from a Surgical SHO to becoming a well-rounded Registrar. Whether you’re Surgical SHO ready to make the next step or a new Registrar ready to enhance your surgical competencies and knowledge, our flexible and hybrid certificate will provide you with essential surgical support to progress your career.
This programme will utilise a blended approach to teaching. Teaching resources will be housed on the Moodle platform. Technical skills training will be delivered face to face on campus for three full days. The online sessions will be live (synchronous) with faculty present in the class. Pre-course reading and post-course exercises will be required to be undertaken on top of attending online classes.

This bone fracture fixation course concentrates on the management of fractures that need more than a cast for stability. The practical sessions will range from the application of simple screws and plates to complex fixation of fractures using k-wires, tension band wiring, and intramedullary nailing.

This course will concentrate on knowledge in relation to correct cast application and removal for the upper and lower limb, caring for the limb in a cast and preventing associated complications. This survey is open to all surgical NCHDs involved in the delivery of surgical care in Ireland from the level of SHO to Fellow, all inclusive.
The findings of this questionnaire will aid in the identification of current challenges encountered by surgical NCHDs with regards to robotic surgery training, highlight unmet educational needs and help inform the development of future educational initiatives.
Participation in this questionnaire is voluntary and anonymous. This questionnaire should take approximately 6 minutes to complete. The questionnaire will close to responses on Friday, April 10th at 6pm.

Applications for both our Master of Surgery (MCh) by Module FT and PT programmes are now open and will close on Monday, 18 May 2026. RCSI’s established MCh by Module programme runs full-time over one year or part time over 2 years on a hybrid model, with 80% online with 20% face to face days on campus. Each module will have at least one- or two days' face to face. The research component pushes you to focus on your individual interests and professional development within the greater healthcare context, and as the first programme in Ireland to incorporate a taught component you'll develop a skill set that cannot be adequately developed through research alone.

Participants will be able to link in virtually for their presentations. This forum is open to all proceduralists working in the healthcare setting. There will be plenary oral and non-plenary oral presentations, with prizes awarded for the best presentation in each category.

The course is relevant for those dedicated to global simulation capacity building and for clinicians who want to improve their skills for debriefing critical events, team working and feedback conversations with trainees.
