Please note applications for our highly in demand RCSI Basic Surgical Principles and Practice programme will close next Monday, 24 August 2026.

The RCSI Basic Surgical Principles and Practice Certificate (BSPP) for non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs) is designed for surgical doctors who are not currently on a formal surgical training programme. The programme provides structured educational support based on the Intercollegiate Core Surgical Curriculum and the MRCS examination syllabus. This programme uses a blended teaching approach. Resources are available on the Moodle platform. Technical skills training is delivered face-to-face on campus over two full days. Online sessions are live (synchronous) with faculty present. Pre-course reading and post-course exercises are required in addition to attending online classes.
