CPD Credits - Not on Target 1st May 2018 - 30th April 2019

Dear Dr

IMC NO

Following our previous notifications to you advising you that this year for the first time, RCSI are required to provide the Medical Council with the registration numbers and names of all registered Medical practitioners (RMPs) who have not met the minimum requirements in terms of CPD credits accrued (internal (20), external (20), personal learning (5), research/teaching making a total of 50 credits) in the year ending April 30 2019,  I now wish to advise you that  your name / IMC number is being sent to the Medical Council as you have not uploaded the minimum CPD credits to your PCS portfolio for the year 1st May 2018 – 30th April 2019 as outlined above.

Please note you can still upload CPD activity for the PCS year 1st May 2018 – 30th April 2019 and reach the required target.    You should now login to your PCS profile and review your credits https://pcs.rcsi.ie/.   We would ask that you update and record your activities.  The Medical Council will be writing to you in the near future and  on receipt of this correspondence from the Medical Council you can then advise them that you have uploaded your cpd credits and that you are on target for the PCS year 1st May 2018 – 30th April 2019.

If however, you are unable to reach the required CPD target for the year ending 30th April 2019, then you should make every effort to plan your CPD activity for 1st May 2019 – 30th April 2020.  The Medical Council will require that you contact the Postgraduate Training body for support.  If you require support in meeting the requirements, please contact us at (pcs@rcsi.ie) and we can provide support to enable you to reach your target for 1st May 2019 – 30th April 2020.  We can also assist you with drawing up a professional development plan.

The Postgraduate Training Bodies will be required to review doctor’s portfolios who were not compliant the year ending 30th April 2019 in May 2020 next year and report progress to the Medical Council.  The Medical Council may take regulatory action for persistent non-compliance.

If you are no longer on the Irish Medical Council’s Register, have moved overseas and wish to withdraw from PCS or have entered the Training Division of the Medical Council Register, please notify this office by email pcs@rcsi.ie as this will allow us update our records and ensure that you do not receive unnecessary communication in relation to the PCS.

If you require any assistance or further clarification with regard to the above, please do not hesitate to contact the PCS office.

Yours sincerely

Professor Sean Tierney BSc MCh FRCSI
Dean of Professional Development and Practice
