As we now approach the end of the Professional Competence Scheme year 2019 – 2020, we recommend that you update your ePortfolio to ensure that your CPD activity is uploaded for the current year.  If you have not reached the required target at this point in time, we would recommend that you
plan activities over the coming three months

It is important to be aware that we are required to provide the Medical Council with registration numbers and names of all registered Medical practitioners who have not met the minimum requirements (CPD credits & Clinical Practice Audit) for the year ending April 30th 2020.

Information recorded in your ePortfolio is used to generate your Annual Statement of Participation at the end of the year.  The Statement of Participation will be generated in May 2020 and this will reflect what you have recorded on your ePortfolio.  This Statement of Participation is the document that you will need to submit to the Medical Council if selected for their Audit.

You should now login to your PCS and review Eportfolio.

The annual PCS requirements are: 50 CPD credits across the following categories:

External:

20 credits minimum per annum (mandatory)

Internal:

20 credits minimum per annum (mandatory)

Personal Learning:

5 credits minimum per annum (mandatory)

Research and Teaching:

2 credits desirable (but can get recognition for up to 5

And

   One clinical / practice audit

If you were absent from practice for a period of three months or greater due to illness / maternity / other leave during the year ending 30th April 2020 and have not notified us, please contact the PCS office and we will arrange for you to complete a separate declaration to this effect and annotate your Annual Statement of Participation.

If you require further advice on the operation of the Professional Competence Scheme or support in meeting the requirements, please contact us on pcs@rcsi.ie or consult our website.

Yours sincerely
