Renew Your PCS Enrolment 1st May 2022 - 30th April 2023

Dear

IMC NO

We have identified from our database that you were enrolled on the Professional Competence Scheme (PCS) however you are currently not re-enrolled for the PCS year 1st May 2022 – 30th April 2023(This report was run recently and you may have already re-enrolled, please ignore if you have re-enrolled)

Please note if you are on the Medical Council Register - Supervised, General, or Specialist Register you are required to be enrolled in a Professional Competence Scheme and it is really important that you re-enrol.

The Medical Council Registration and Continuing Practice Committee have requested that the Postgraduate Training Bodies share more information with the Medical Council on an individual named basis regarding doctors who are enrolled in its professional scheme.  The aim of this exercise is that the Medical Council will then be able to reconcile lists with the current Register and identify doctors who are not enrolled on the Professional Competence Scheme and thus require follow-up.

If you do not re-enrol, your name will not be on the list we (RCSI) send to the Medical Council and therefore you will then be contacted by the Medical Council directly about your enrolment.

If you are no longer registered with the Medical Council, you should inform us that you have withdrawn from the register and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you are now enrolled in a formal (Medical Council accredited) Training Programme, you are not required to enrol in PCS. You should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you have changed specialty and are enrolling in a PCS scheme operated by a different Training body, you should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you no longer intend to work in Ireland and meet the criteria set out by the Medical Council to demonstrate that you are maintaining your competence in another jurisdiction, you should ensure that you have made the Medical Council aware of this. You should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders. Please note that if you intend to work for more than 30 days in Ireland during this next year, you must enrol in an appropriate PCS and pay the required fee. Even if you have declared that you are no longer in active practice but have chosen to retain your registration, you must renew your enrolment in PCS by paying the appropriate fee.

We encourage you to re-enrol at your earliest convenience by clicking here

Failure to re-enrol may result in regulatory action by the Medical Council including referral to the Fitness to Practice committee.

If you have any difficulty with this, please do not hesitate to contact the PCS office at pcs@rcsi.ie

Yours sincerely
