Renew Your PCS Enrolment 1st May 2019 - 30th April 2020

Dear

We note that you have not renewed your enrolment on the RCSI Professional Competence Scheme for the current year (1st May 2019 – 30th April 2020).

The Medical Council registration retention process advises doctors that you must pay your PCS enrolment fee for 2019- 2020 prior to retaining your registration with the Medical Council. At the time of completing your annual retention process, you were asked to indicate which Postgraduate Training Body you have enrolled with for PCS and to complete a declaration that you have paid your enrolment fee for your PCS.

If you are no longer registered with the Medical Council, you should inform us that you have withdrawn from the register and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you are now enrolled in a formal (Medical Council accredited) Training Programme, you are not required to enrol in PCS. You should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you have changed specialty and are enrolling in a PCS scheme operated by a different Training body, you should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders.

If you no longer intend to work in Ireland and meet the criteria set out by the Medical Council to demonstrate that you are maintaining your competence in another jurisdiction, you should ensure that you have made the Medical Council aware of this. You should notify us of your status and we will no longer issue you with reminders. Please note that if you intend to work for more than 30 days in Ireland during the next year, you must enrol in an appropriate PCS and pay the required fee.

Even if you have declared that you are no longer in active practice but have chosen to retain your registration, you must renew your enrollment in PCS by paying the appropriate fee. There are special fee arrangements in place for retired surgeons.

If you are on the Register of Medical Practitioners (other than in the Training or intern division), whether or not you are in active clinical practice and even if you no longer perform surgery, you must enrol in PCS. Failure to make an accurate declaration to the Medical Council when retaining your registration may result in regulatory action including referral to the Fitness to Practice committee.

If you are no longer on the Supervised, General, or Specialist section of the (Irish) Medical Council’s Register please notify this office by email pcs@rcsi.ie as this will allow us update our records and ensure that you do not receive unnecessary communication in relation to the PCS
