Medical Council Maintenance of Professional Competence Audits
 |
The Medical Council will shortly be commencing Maintenance of Professional Competence Audits. Doctors selected for audit will be requested to submit to the Medical Council Professional Competence Section documentation to demonstrate they are meeting professional competence requirements in line with statutory obligations. For most doctors this will mean submitting a copy of their statement of participation. If you receive correspondence from the Medical Council requesting you to participate in audit, you will be required to submit a copy of your latest statement of participation. You will not be asked to submit individual CPD documents unless specifically requested by the Medical Council. Correspondence will be sent to selected doctors shortly and doctors will be requested to submit the required documentation within the time period as set out in the request. Failure by any doctor to cooperate with a request to participate in maintenance of professional competence audit is a contravention of rules made under the Medical Practitioners Act 2007, which is a serious matter that can place a doctor's continuing registration with the Medical Council at risk.
