Dear Colleague,

We write with regard to ICBSE's mandatory Equality & Diversity training course. This needs to be completed by all involved in MRCS and DO-HNS examinations including Examiners, Assessors, Committee Members and administrative staff.

The course consists of two modules: Module 1 provides a general introduction to current Equality & Diversity legislation in the UK and Ireland, while Module 2 focuses on the specific implications of the legislation for professional examinations.

This training is a regulatory requirement in the UK and Ireland. ICBSE and other examination bodies must demonstrate to all stakeholders that we are complying with Equality & Diversity legislation in the setting of our examinations.

A two-month window is being given for the completion of this training and your last login plus completion scores are held centrally by ICBSE. All examiners will need to complete the training and assessment exercise by the end of September 2017. The assessment is not a formative process - examiners need to score 6 out of 10 marks in the assessment exercise(s). All information is confidential but may be shared between Colleges.

The course takes approximately two hours. Your login information, temporary password and access information for your account are detailed below;

  • Username: the first part of your email without numbers or special symbols
  • Password: Mrcs2017#
  • To access the course, please go to: https://vle.rcsi.ie/course/view.php?id=924
  • The first time you visit the site, you will be prompted to enter your username and password, and you will then be required to change your password to something more memorable to you. (The new password must be 8 characters or more and must contain 1 uppercase letter, 1 lowercase letter, 1 digit and 1 non-alphanumeric character.)
  • If you ever forget your password, please visit https://vle.rcsi.ie/login/forgot_password.php and follow the instructions to reset it.

Should you have any difficulties, please email us at examiners@rcsi.ie and we will provide you with the necessary support.

Please note: failure to complete the training will unfortunately prevent examiners from being involved in the next examination diet (October 2017 Ireland, November 2017 Bahrain, January 2018 Penang). We accept that this is an additional task needed of our already busy examiners and would like to express our thanks for your continued support.

If you have any queries relating to the above please do not hesitate to get in touch.

With thanks and best wishes,

Court of Examiners, RCSI
