Dear Trainer,

The RCSI is committed to excellence in surgical training by ensuring that the surgeons trained today have the skills and expertise necessary to deliver surgery in an evolving healthcare environment. This is only possible because of the commitment of Consultant Surgical Trainers who deliver quality training in hospitals every day throughout the country.

The annual trainer survey provides the RCSI with invaluable feedback on how we can support you in your role as a surgical trainer.

In the past, your responses to the survey have contributed to a number of initiatives including:

  • Supports on dealing with trainees in difficulty
  • Opportunities to engage further with training such as examining
  • Introduction of regionalized training in ASSERT centers in Cork and Galway
  • Online train the trainer programme – currently under construction
  • Advocating on behalf of trainers with Department of Health and HSE

This year’s survey incorporates a focus on a potential move to a regionalized model of training and the integration of robotics into surgical training programmes.

Completion of this survey is instrumental in ensuring that the initiatives undertaken in RCSI reflect your experiences and priorities as trainers.

You will shortly receive an email from the Faculty of Surgical Trainers with your survey link. If you do not wish to receive a link to the survey please let us know by replying to this email.

The survey should take approx. 5 minutes to complete and a summary of the survey feedback will be circulated in the 1st quarter of 2024.

Thank you in advance for your participation.

Regards
