The RCSI Court of Examiners are currently looking to recruit new basic, clinical and lay examiners to join our surgical examining committee and help deliver our MRCS Part B OSCE diets in Ireland and overseas in Malaysia, Bahrain, the UAE and our newly launched centre in Egypt.
The RCSI Court of Examiners are currently looking to recruit new basic, clinical and lay examiners to join our surgical examining committee and help deliver our MRCS Part B OSCE diets in Ireland and overseas in Malaysia, Bahrain, the UAE and our newly launched centre in Egypt.
Examiners play a key role in the progression of our surgical trainees domestically and internationally. The support of our basic, clinical, and lay examiners is integral to our ability to deliver the MRCS exams and ensuring that the surgical quality standard of our surgeons in training is assessed to the highest efficiency.
Prospective examiners can find more information such as eligibility criteria for each of our examiner vacancies on our Court of Examiners. Applications forms for each of our examiner vacancies can be seen below:

The Co- Lead National Clinical Programme in Surgery will be responsible for providing clinical leadership to the Programme and the Specialties in Surgery National Clinical Advisors and will be a key member of the NCPS.
The role will involve active membership of the NCPS Steering Group, Working Group, the Committee of Surgical Affairs (CSA) and other groups and committees which support the work of the Programme including but not limited to leading in specific initiatives, whether at HSE or DOH level, such as waiting lists, unscheduled care, hospital configuration, surgical manpower and surgical workforce planning.

The Education Lead will have primary responsibility for ensuring that all participants on the RCSI International Surgical Training Programmes will have a world-class education and training experience in keeping with the goals and objectives of the training curriculum (ISCP). The Education Lead will therefore be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the trainees and for monitoring their training progress whilst they are in post in Ireland.
The Education Lead will work closely with the Training Programme Director to ensure that all Fellows verifiably achieve their prescribed competencies through a robust assessment framework.

The Basic Surgical Principles and Practice Certificate (BSPP) for SHO’s has been specifically designed for surgical doctors who are not currently on a formal surgical training programme. This is a one-year programme delivered between September 2024 and June 2025.
This programme also utilises a fully on-line approach to teaching. The predominate teaching methodology will be through Moodle. Technical skills training will be delivered face to face on campus.
Most of the on-line sessions will be live (synchronous) with Faculty present in the class and some classes will be previously recorded (asynchronous) followed by a live question and answer session.
