HE Ambassador Milton and Mr Clancy (CEO, Enterprise Ireland) formally launch collaborative Postgraduate Training website in UAE

Prof Oscar Traynor and Brenda Farrell, RCSI, Surgical Affairs, travelled to the Gulf in February along with four other Postgraduate Training Bodies from Ireland to formally launch a new collaborative website which promotes opportunities for postgraduate clinical training in Ireland.  They were delighted to have the opportunity to launch during the World Leaders Summit that Ambassador Alison Milton and Mr Leo Clancy were attending in Dubai.

In addition to the launch event in the UAE they had discussions with Dubai Academic Health Corporation, SEHA, Cleveland Clinic in Abu Dhabi and also visited Qatar (HMC, Itqan Simulation Centre and Qatar University) and Kuwait (KIMS and Kuwait Medical Association).  These discussions focused on promotion of RCSI’s International Surgical Fellowship Programme (ISFP) but presented the opportunity for exploratory discussions regarding collaboration in the delivery of local surgical training.

The international medical graduates currently in Ireland are supported by programme co-ordinator Mr Sean Hall and the team in Surgical Affairs.
