We would like to congratulate you on being offered a place on the RCSI National Surgical Training Programme and wish you every success as you enter this exciting phase of your surgical career.

You have already received details of your post allocation. In the coming weeks, the Core Surgical Training team here in RCSI will be in touch with you in relation to your Induction and Surgical Bootcamp, which will take place prior to the commencement date of your allocation. In the meantime I have outlined below a number of supports and resources that the RCSI has put in place to support your ongoing career development, these include:

 

RCSI Affiliate Membership

Affiliate Membership of RCSI is a new membership category available from March 2022.

Affiliate Membership offers access to RCSI Membership communication channels, including e-newsletters and print publications, along with global networking opportunities. Additional information can be accessed by visiting our website.

 

Academic Programmes:

RCSI Surgical Affairs are delighted to announce that we now have a suite of postgraduate academic programmes in surgery and medicine to meet the needs of all healthcare professionals.

We are committed to delivering excellence in healthcare education by providing a range of Masters and Diploma Programmes dedicated to Surgeon’s, Nurse’s, Physician’s, Dentists, Anaesthetist’s and other Health & Social Care practitioner’s. Programmes include

MRCS exams

The MRCS exam aims to assess NCHD’s in the breadth of both basic sciences and the principles of surgery. It is an intercollegiate exam, hence, the syllabus, format and content are common to all surgical Royal Colleges in the UK and Ireland. The MRCS is fully-recognised by both the Irish Medical Council and the General Medical Council (UK). Additional information can be accessed by visiting our website.

 

mSurgery Training Portal

mSurgery is a free access, custom-built site, for all mobile devices that contains the ‘just in time’ essential information for surgical trainees. It contains videos on surgical procedures and skills, access to online mobile medical books, links to other useful sites and more. Weekly Webinar Series
