RCSI, NCHD CONTINUOUS PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME

RCSI has developed a Continuous professional development programme that cover a broad range of courses that are free-of-charge to Non-consultant hospital doctors (NCHDs) working in the HSE. 

Enrolment to this programme opens in July of each year.  Our programme in 2024-25 will offer over 120+ courses and will be available on our website in late July. You can book a place on one of the current courses of find additional information from our website.

For those who have a HSE NCHD contract next year up to 21 CPD hours of these course are free to you once you have registered with the CPDSS scheme.

 

Calling all SHO’s in Ireland – Register your interest today for our established Basic Surgical Principles and Practice Certificate

The Basic Surgical Principles and Practice Certificate (BSPP) for SHO’s has been specifically designed for surgical doctors who are not currently on a formal surgical training programme.

The purpose of the programme is to provide educational support in a structured way based on the blueprint of the Intercollegiate Core Surgical Curriculum and the MRCS examination syllabus.

Please note, prospective candidates looking to apply for this programme will need to be registered on our 2024-25 CPD Support Scheme.

Fees: The total fee for this certificate is €2,240. €990 is covered via the NCHD CPD funding which will be claimed back directly from the HSE on behalf of the NCHD’s.

Candidates will need to pay the remaining balance of €1,250 which can be paid in three instalments. NCHDs can claim the €1,250 fee back directly from their hospitals as this certificate is approved by HSE NDTP under the Training Support Scheme (TSS).

The MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice is open to all non-consultant health doctors in Ireland within non-surgical specialities such as radiology, anaesthesiology, general practice, emergency medicine, pathology, public health, occupational health, and all general medical specialties.

The intercollegiate MRCS exam is one of the most well-known surgical qualifications in the world. Passing the exam showcases a level of knowledge, experience and competence needed to progress in your surgical career.

Basic Foundations of Robotic Surgery Online Course

Did you know our basic online Foundations in Robotic Surgery Online course is open to a wide range of healthcare professionals including surgical trainees, NCHDs, doctors, and nurses working in a robotic surgery setting.

Enhance your theory, knowledge and skills in surgical robotics in preparation for safe robotic surgical practice. Doctors will be equipped with the theoretical knowledge and practical working understanding of how-to setup a robot and console, the fundamentals of operating the robot, how to achieve robotic surgical competence and much more.

This online course will be delivered in 9 learning modules that can be completed over 2-4 weeks. Each module includes lectures, instructional videos and assessments.

mSurgery TRAINING PORTAL

mSurgery is a free access, custom-built site, for all mobile devices that contains the ‘just in time’ essential information for surgical trainees. It contains videos on surgical procedures and skills, access to online mobile medical books, links to other useful sites and more.
