Call for Abstracts

Invitations are now open for poster abstracts for RCSI's 5th National Human Factors in Patient Safety Conference on Friday, 26 September 2025. 

 

Each successful applicant will get the opportunity to present their project for 10 minutes at the conference to a community of Human Factors in Patient Safety advocates across Ireland and abroad. 

 

 

To be considered eligible all abstracts must:

  • Be submitted in English
  • Relate to a topic within human factors in patient safety

Categories for submission are:

  1. Patient safety
  2. Quality improvement
  3. Organisational culture
  4. Safety management systems
  5. Diversity and inclusivity

Please note

  • Submissions will be accepted in PDF format only
  • Submissions must be under the 350 word limit
  • Ensure submission contains the following headings:
    – Introduction: should reflect a rationale/why you did this work
    – Methods: should be a brief explanation of what was done and how it was done (this may include design, participants, data collection or a brief explanation of what you did or protocol used if a systematic review)
    – Results: should describe the main findings or outcomes and include data
    – Discussion: should define what the results mean in terms of the background knowledge or practice
  • Include a maximum of four references
  • Abstracts will not be eligible if no results are presented
  • Successful candidates will be invited to present their findings as a 10-minute oral presentation at the conference.

The deadline for submissions is 5pm (IST) on 15 August 2025.
