ISTG Careers Day & Aspiring Surgeons' Research Symposium
Taking place in the RCSI Exam Hall, this year's Careers Day will bring together aspiring surgeons, trainees and training programme directors from 11 surgical specialties. The programme includes insights into surgical career pathways, trainee wellbeing and recognition of prior learning, followed by presentations from specialty training programme directors, an interactive Battle of the Specialties and surgical specialty speed-dating.

The afternoon session will feature the Aspiring Surgeons' Research Symposium, providing medical students, interns and SHOs with an opportunity to showcase their research. Abstract submission extended to 8 October 2026.

RCSI–ISTG ConMed Robotic Surgery Skills Challenge 2026
Running alongside Careers Day, ISTG is delighted to collaborate with the RCSI Department of Surgical Affairs and ConMed to deliver an exciting hands-on robotic surgery competition.

Taking place from 9am to 1pm at the RCSI Robotic Surgery Training Centre, the competition offers 12 NCHD places. Participants will have 15 minutes of familiarisation followed by 15 minutes completing an assessed robotic chicken-leg dissection using the Medtronic Hugo and Cornerstone Sentire robotic platforms.

The winner will receive a €1,000 ConMed Robotic Surgery Development Award, supporting attendance at a robotic surgery course or travel to a recognised robotic centre of excellence. Applications for the robotic competition should be emailed to info@istg.ie by 30 October 2026.
